Adobe Flash Player facilitates videos and graphics when visiting websites.
With Adobe Flash Player being phased out with newer software, it’s no longer possible to keep Flash Player always enabled in Chrome. This means each time you visit a site requiring Flash Player to function, you will need to grant the permission.
How to Enable or Disable Adobe Flash Player
- Open a Google Chrome window.
- Select the ‘more’ option in the top right-hand corner. This will appear as 3 vertical dots.
Note: don’t see 3 little dots? Update Google Chrome by at this link here: chrome://settings/help - Select ‘Settings’ at the bottom of the menu.
- Scroll the page down to the bottom and select ‘Advanced’
- Under the Privacy and Security section, click ‘Site Settings’.
- Find and click ‘Flash’.
- Next to “Block sites from running Flash” click the switch to toggle on. Or toggle on for Chrome to ask permission for a website to run Abobe Flash.
- If you want to unblock a specific site that has already been blocked, click the ‘X’ corresponding to that site under the ‘Block’ section.
As previously mentioned, you will still have to enable when Chrome asks for permission.
When you visit a site requiring Flash, you’ll receive a pop up in the URL bar where the website is displayed asking to block or allow. This will appear as a puzzle piece, select the puzzle piece and click ‘Allow.’
