This error is commonly known as an error with access to the installation source. This can be for a variety of issues, from corruption to installation due to internet speeds and more. Below are some of HelpCloud’s recommended solutions to resolving this issue in a manner that is effective. If the resolutions below do not resolve this for you. Resolution 1: Temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus software
Note: Firewalls can sometimes automatically block network communication or the installation of a program due to security measurements. This process can be different depending on your Operating System and the Antivirus you use. Below I’ve listed links for common Antivirus’s and how they’re disabled located after the steps to disable your firewall.
Step 1: Press the windows icon in the bottom left of your screen and search for ”Control Panel”.
Step 2: Launch the control panel, and navigate to ”System and Security”.
Step 3: Click on ”Windows Firewall” and proceed to ”Turn Window Firewall on or off”.
Step 4: Select the ”Turn off” option on the Windows Firewall settings for both public and private.
Step 5: Now disable your antivirus with one of the links below. Then proceed to try installing or updating your Microsoft Office.

Resolution 2: Running an SFC Scan
This would help check for potential issues with the corruption of your Windows Operating System. This could be the cause of your Microsoft Office not properly working.
Step 1: Press the Windows icon in the bottom left of your screen and search ”CMD”.
Step 2: In the window presented where you see ”Command Prompt” right-click it and select ”Run as administrator.” This command is required for this to work.
Step 3: Type the following command exactly, minus the quotes, into the window provided. ”sfc /scannow”.
This will launch the command and begin the scan. Do not close the window at this time and let it finish its process. Once it finishes proceed to try and install or update your Microsoft Office. If this does not resolve it. Proceed to our next resolution.
Resolution 3: If you have Office 365 currently installed, you can try removal and reinstallation using the steps below.
Note: Make sure that you have your product key or know your account information prior to doing this.
Step 1: Click on your Windows icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Step 2: Now click on the option labeled, ”Programs”.
Step 3: Select the option ”Programs and Features”.
Step 4: In the list provided find and select the Office product we want to remove. In this case ”Office 365” or ”Office Suite” and press the ”Remove” option.
Step 5: Follow the prompts on the screen to perform a uninstall of the Office product.
Step 6: Go to https://www.microsoft.com and sign in.
Step 7: Clock on ”Office 365 setup”, and select the install option presented. Follow the stages there to finish the reinstallation.
Resolution 4: Registry repair
Disclaimer: This is a more professional and technical resolution. Manipulation of the Registry without proper training is not advised as it can cause more corruption and issues to occur. Always have a backup.
Step 1: Open the Registry editor.
Step 2: Look for and remove these keys that can be preventing the installation of the latest versions or updating to them:
