Proxy setting stuck on 127.0.0.1:8080:
- First, delete the proxy file in the registry under the “Internet Options” folder:
- Open and Run regedit as administrator
- Navigate to: [ComputerHKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings]
- Delete the file that has the proxy server in the data field.
- Second, make sure the files were deleted in the downloads folder on the computer:
- Go to “File Explorer“, on the top under the view tab click on “Options”
- In this window click on the “View tab” and make sure that “Show hidden files, folders, and drives”, as well as, “Hide Extensions for known file types” are checked.
- Navigate to the downloads page and make sure to delete any proxy files “Proxy.pac”
- Then make sure to uncheck the hidden folders in previous step.
- Third, restart and scan for more proxy errors, at this time you should be able to access the internet but want to make sure that all other parts of the malware are removed:
- Restart then the internet should be unlocked.
- Confirm that via anti-malware program called Zemana, (www.Zamana.com) finds and resolves. Remove
- Then restart and you should be good to go.
